At Ysgol Bryn Garth, our curriculum is built around our vision of Caring, Exploring, Inspiring. We are a warm and welcoming school where creating a nurturing environment is at the heart of everything we do, ensuring children feel safe, happy and ready to learn. We aim to inspire every child to do their very best, leaving us with confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

We place a strong emphasis on stimulating, engaging and authentic learning experiences. Alongside our much-loved school farm, children benefit from a wide range of hands-on opportunities, including outdoor learning, Forest School and practical subjects such as woodwork. Our outdoor areas, including our pond and natural spaces, provide rich opportunities for exploration, discovery and creativity. Pupil voice is central to our approach, with children encouraged to share their ideas, ask “big questions” and help shape their learning, making it meaningful and exciting.

In English, we use Read Write Inc to develop strong phonics skills, before moving on to the Sounds and Syllables spelling scheme as children progress. We also promote a love of reading through shared stories and engaging texts. In mathematics, we follow the Inspire Maths scheme, enhanced by practical, real-life experiences that help children apply their skills in meaningful ways. Across all areas of the curriculum, we are committed to providing inclusive, hands-on learning opportunities that allow every child to thrive and succeed.

We are proud of the strong links we build with our families and the wider community. Our monthly community lunches are a highlight, where pupils take an active role in serving food and chatting with visitors, helping to build confidence and social skills. We also offer a range of opportunities for parents to come into school and learn alongside their children, including sessions focused on health and fitness, cooking, and developing literacy skills through activities such as story sack making. These experiences help to strengthen relationships and create a real sense of belonging within our school community.
